The Wright City girls wrestling team had a strong season during the 2024-25 campaign and, according to senior Sadie Sehnert, both she and the team are looking to take the next step this season. Sehnert, who won 47 matches and finished fifth in the state at 130 pounds, said she expects more out of all involved. more
Allison Vacek doesn’t really consider herself a trailblazer. While she has played a significant role in building the Warrenton girls' wrestling program from the mat up, the current senior was the first out of necessity, not desire. “I’m happy that the girls on this team don't have to go through everything I went through my freshman year exactly,” Vacek said. “When I first started, there were (two) of us. A lot of the boys didn't want us in their room, you know. So, it's like, we had to fight just to get space. It feels good knowing the girls I have on the team now.” more
Quincy Rice has added motivation heading into his final wrestling season. The Wright City senior, who will wrestle at 215 pounds for the Wildcats, not only wants to make it to the state tournament in his final season, but he wants to keep the luster of the Rice family name when it comes to Wildcats’ wrestling. more
If you blinked on Thursday, you likely missed it. Wright City senior Kali Jensen opened her Senior Night, and pretty much the entire event, by pinning South Callaway’s Michaela Smith in 20 seconds in their super-short match at 125 pounds. more
Grant Lehmann hopes the success he’s experienced recently will translate from the gridiron to the hardwood. Lehmann, who was a part of the Wright City football team that won seven games, including one in the playoffs, is ready to trade in his pads for a spot in the front court with the boys basketball team this winter. more

Shiriah McRoberts has her sights set on big things this winter.
