The Wright City girls wrestling team had a strong season during the 2024-25 campaign and, according to senior Sadie Sehnert, both she and the team are looking to take the next step this season.
Sehnert, who won 47 matches and finished fifth in the state at 130 pounds, said she expects more out of all involved.

Upon moving to the Wright City area two years ago, Donna Hale didn’t know many people.
That’s when she received a sign in the form of, well, a sign from the Wright City R-II School District.
“I didn’t know anybody or have a community,” Hale said. “We kept driving by and seeing the ‘substitute teachers needed’ sign. It took a little bit to go through the process, but I think I’ve found my purpose and my people.”

Shiriah McRoberts has her sights set on big things this winter.
The Wright City senior guard, who stands 5-feet tall, feels as if the Wildcats can improve upon the team’s 7-19 finish of one season ago and look to make some late-season noise.
“I believe our team can accomplish great things, such as being district champs, and also winning more than 10 games,” McRoberts said. “(It) is one of our biggest goals. I believe we can hit all of these if we keep a positive attitude and work as a team.”
