The Wright City Board of Aldermen unanimously approved several road paving projects during their meeting Feb. 26 at a cost in excess of $880,000.

By a 4-0 vote the board approved the city’s 2026 pavement overlay program bids in favor of Mid River Asphalt LLC in the amount of $367,997.88. According to Wright City Public Works Director Kyle Roettger, the work would include overlay work on Westwoods Road from Indian Head Lodge to Bell Road, Bell Road from Westwoods Road to Klausmeier Road and Wildcat Road from Hutchison Drive to Westwoods Road.

The next project is to pave two patches of Stuermann where base failure is present, according to Roettger. He recommended that the board approve the lowest bid in favor of Mid River Asphalt Inc. in the amount of $88,296.12. The board voted unanimously to approve Roettger’s recommendation.

The board also unanimously approved Roettger’s recommendation to award the Forest Lakes Subdivision sealcoating project to E. Meier Contracting in the amount of $43,697.68.

The final project is the 2nd Street overlay project in the amount of $276,656.94, also awarded to Mid River Asphalt. According to Roettger, the project will include work from Roelker Road to Elm Street as well as the paving the small gravel parking lot at Diekroeger Park.

Another project that went out for bid, but only for the purposes of determining a possible grant application, was a bid for the Ruge Park walking trail. Mid River also submitted the lowest bid for that project in the amount of $63,417.37, but during the meeting it was discussed that the city does not currently have funds available to pay for that project.

The aldermen also unanimously approved an agreement with Omnigo Software related to the record management system for the Wright City Police Department. Chief Tom Canavan said that the city has used this software for many years, but that the new proposed agreement would be for a three-year term, which would save the city money. He said currently the city pays $35,000 per year for the software. Under the terms of the new agreement, the city would pay $27,900 the first year, $29,800 the second year and $31,900 for the third year.

The board also voted unanimously to approve a cybersecurity insurance quote of $2,210.25 and an auto and liability insurance quote for nine months with MoPerm in the amount of $123,966.

In other matters, the board unanimously approved an amendment to the conditional use permit for The Woehrle General Store to allow for a small coffee shop within the store known as Hometown Brew.
