The Warrenton boys track and field team earned their first team win of the season with a first place finish at last week’s Wright City Invitational.
The Warrenton boys track and field athletes finished the 10-team boys meet with 163 team points. Wright City finished tied for second as a team with 121 points. The Warrenton girls track and field team placed third out of nine teams with 112 team points. The Wright City girls track and field team placed fifth with 95 team points.
The Warrenton boys track and field team led the way with five first place finishes at the competition. The Warriors earned wins in both the 800-meter run and 1600-meter run. Wyatt Claiborne finished first in the 800-meter run. He finished the race in 2:04.83. Phillip Kackley won the 1600-meter run for the Warriors. He finished the race in 4:52.82. Claiborne and Kackley also were part of two first place relay teams. Claiborne, Kackley, Garrison Allen and Zachariah Bristol won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:39.53. Claiborne, Kackley, Bryan Guerrero and Deacon Forrest won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 9:23.67. Colton Brosenne won the boys long jump for the Warriors. He finished with a distance of 5.79 meters.
Wright City came in just behind Warrenton with four first place finishes. Senior Jeremiah Davis earned first place finishes in all four events, two individually and two as part of a relay team. Davis won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.24 and the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.45. Davis teamed up with Kaden Cross, Devin Myers and Blake Hogan to win the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 44.84. Davis, Hogan, Myers and David Riggs won the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:34.25.
The Warrenton girls track and field athletes placed first in four events to help them placed third in the girls’ competition. Sophomore Morgan Marschel placed first in the 400-meter dash. She finished the race in 1:00.46. Marschel also was a part of two relay teams to earn first place finishes. Madelyn Marschel, Morgan Marschel, Isabelle Morris and Evangeline Rhama won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:26.18. Madelyn Marschel, Morgan Marschel and Morris teamed up with Shelby Sommer to win the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 11:22.81. Sophomore Avery Shaw won shot put competition with a distance of 9.74 meters.
A pair of Wright City runners won an individual and relay event as part of the Lady Wildcats’ three first place finishes. Lydia Clubb won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.22. Teammate Teagen Riley won the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.18. Clubb, Riley, Lindsay Pettus and Elizabeth Riggs won the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:54.26.
Warriors log top-three finishes
The Warrenton boys and girls track and field teams both logged top-three team finishes at the St. Dominic Invite last week.
The Lady Warriors finished second out of nine teams at the competition. The Warrenton boys track and field team placed third out of nine teams.
The Lady Warriors placed first in four events. Shaw placed first in both the shot put and the discus. She threw the shot 10.95 meters. She finished with a distance of 26.99 meters in the discus competition. The Lady Warriors also won a pair of races. Morgan Marschel won the 400-meter dash. She finished the race in 59.99. Madelyn Marschel won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.16.
The Warrenton boys track and field team won three races at the St. Dominic Invite. Claiborne won the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:34.38. The Warriors also won two relays. Dawson, Bristol, Brosenne and Anthony Lombardo teamed up to win the 4x200-meter relay. They finished the race with a time of 1:35.11. Claiborne, Guerrero, Kackley and Deacon Forrest won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:51.43.
Wildcats set school records
The Wright City track and field team set a pair of school records at the Montgomery County Invite earlier this week.
Senior Jeremiah Davis set a school record in the 200-meter dash. He won the event with a time of 22.27 seconds. The Wildcats also set a school record in the 4x100-meter relay. Davis teamed up with Kaden Allison, Kaden Cross and Blake Hogan to set the school record. They finished the relay in 44.59 seconds. They finished third in the event.
Davis also won the 100-meter dash. He finished the race in 11.16. Junior Elizabeth Riggs won the 300-meter hurdle event. She finished the race in 47.38.
