On Sept. 26, 2024, Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy James Bulkley responded to a location in Warren County for a delayed report of a theft that occurred at a residence where the victim and the suspect lived together.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Bulkley, the victim reported $6,700 in cash had been stolen from envelopes in his bedroom and he believed Christopher Martz, 34, of Wright City, had taken the money. The victim said Martz was the only one with access to the residence.
Martz admitted to taking the money and claimed he had borrowed it, and intended to pay the victim back, according to the probable cause statement.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest and he is to be held on a $10,000 bond.
