A Kansas City, Missouri, woman is facing felony drug charges following a Tuesday, Sept. 29 traffic stop in southern Warren County, according to online court records.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., a Warren County sheriff’s deputy stopped Shelly Knichel on Highway 47 south of Washington Regional Airport, near Leo Straatmann Farm Service, according to a probable cause statement.

The deputy found that Knichel was not wearing her seat belt, did not have a valid driver’s license, and her driving privileges were revoked. He also found that the vehicle registration belonged to a different vehicle, that Knichel did not have insurance, and that she was on parole for possession of a controlled substance, according to the statement.

While booking Knichel at the Warren County Jail, a detention enforcement officer additionally located approximately 8.8 grams of a crystalline substance, which later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, in Knichel’s pants, the statement notes.

Knichel allegedly admitted to possessing the drugs. She has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and delivery or possession of a controlled substance at a county jail, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor driving while revoked and operating a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility. She was also charged with infractions for not wearing a seat belt and displaying the plates of another person.

Knichel, born in 1978, is being held without bond at the Warren County Jail.
