A rural Warrenton man with past felony convictions is facing multiple new felony charges after a family member reported that he shot at a residence and he was subsequently found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and multiple firearms.

Anthony L. Ball was charged Sunday, Sept. 27, with felony possession of a controlled substance, felony unlawful use of a weapon, two felony counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

The previous day, at approximately 7:16 p.m., Warren County sheriff’s deputies responded to an address in the 16400 block of Hinterwald Road after a resident reported that his nephew, Ball, was walking around with an AK-47 strapped to his chest, “yelling that he pistol whipped someone last night,” according to a probable cause statement.

The man who reported Ball to the sheriff’s office subsequently told deputies that Ball had been causing issues at his home the previous night, “which resulted with their residence being shot at,” according to the statement.

Deputies obtained a search warrant and found multiple firearms in his bedroom, including two shotguns, a .22 caliber rifle and a .22 caliber revolver, along with ammunition, a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, and pipes with burnt residue on them consistent with use of methamphetamine, according to the statement.

Ball has past felony convictions for drug possession and unlawful use of a weapon, meaning he is prohibited from possessing firearms. He is being held without bond at the Warren County Jail.
