Matthew Dicus, 23, of Wright City was charged with driving while intoxicated and assault in the second degree following an altercation that took place on the evening of Nov. 22.
Warrenton Police Officers responded to a report of a disturbance late in the evening of Nov. 22.
When they arrived two victims told them a man tried to hit them with his car, according to the probable cause statement. The victims advised that Dicus was driving a silver Chevrolet Cruze and had traveled east on Hickory Lick Road in Warrenton.
Officers found a vehicle matching the victim while canvassing the area and a chase ensued when officers attempted to pull the vehicle over.
Dicus came to a stop on Hickory Lick Road just west of State Highway AA, according to the probable cause statement.
He admitted to consuming alcohol before driving and a 30 milliliter bottle of American Honey Whiskey was found behind the passenger seat. Officers also reported Dicus’ eyes were glassy and bloodshot, indicating intoxication.
A breath sample concluding Dicus had a blood alcohol content of .171%, well over the legal limit.
In an interview with police officers, Dicus admitted there had been an altercation at a bar in Pendleton, and when dropping another individual off at the victim’s residence, a physical altercation took place between Dricus and the victim.
He said he returned to his vehicle and drove into the victim’s vehicle before leaving the scene.
Dicus was charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, along with resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated, all misdemeanors.
A warrant was served for his arrest and he is currently being held without bond.
