A 21-year-old Washington man is accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old boy stemming from an incident that took place in June 2023.
Brandon Espinoza, 21, of Washington, was charged with statutory sodomy and sexual exploitation of a minor.
Espinoza was already convicted federally and is currently incarcerated in a federal penintentiary. The state has refiled the case to press charges at the state level in addition to his federal conviction.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Warren County Sheriff’s Department Detective Kurt Hey, Espinoza was watching a family member’s children while they were at work and sexually assaulted a five-year-old boy.
During an interview with Espinoza he told detectives he used his cellphone to record the sexual contact, according to the probable cause statement.
An arrest warrant was issued Thursday. The special conditions of Espinoza’s bond prohibit him from having any contact with the victim or witnesses in the case and stipulate he is not allowed to possess or consume any drugs or alcohol. The bond also imposes a dawn to dusk curfew except for work.
