A Warrenton man, Bobby Thomas, 50, was charged with stalking and harassment, both felonies, and trespassing, a misdemeanor, on Dec. 26 after he was seen near the victim’s property by a witness via security cameras.

Warren County Sheriff’s Corporal Robert Bittick found the suspect’s vehicle parked near the property and Sergeant Josh Malin and K-9 Melvin were called to assist.

According to the probable cause statement filed by Deputy Derreck Darter, Melvin was able to track a scent from the suspect’s vehicle to the front porch of the victim, and Deputy Garrett Burns found Thomas hiding in the woods roughly 100 yards from the victim’s residence.

Thomas is a former boyfriend of the victim, and had assaulted her in the past, according to the probable cause statement.

The victim and the witness also told officers that Thomas had been seen at the property on Dec. 21 and had been placing Samsung air tags on the victim’s vehicle. Thomas is the respondent to a protection order filed by the victim.

He also has a third-degree domestic assault charge in Montgomery County, a felony, against the victim.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and he is to be held without bond.
