Warren County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in Warrenton on the evening of Oct. 26. When deputies arrived, they identified the suspect as Jamal Jones, 57, of Warrenton.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Deputy Isaiah Weible, the victim was visibly upset when officers arrived, and told them Jones had threatened to kill their dog.
She said the dog had gained entry to their bedroom which Jones has taken issue with and during the resulting altercation he pushed the victim and the dog with a laundry basket before throwing the victim to the ground, causing cuts to her knuckles, scrapes to her knees and a deep laceration on her leg.
The victim stated Jones then started pacing the home with a hammer, saying he was going to kill the dog. She told officers she feared for her life because of a history of physical altercations with Jones and his use of the hammer.
According to the probable cause statement, Officers have responded to issues between Jones and the dog on two other occasions this year.
Jones was charged with domestic assault in the third degree and harassment in the first degree, both felonies.
A warrant has been served for his arrest and he is currently being held without bond.
