An O’Fallon man was charged with aggravated fleeing a stop or detention following an incident Sept. 19.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Wright City Police Department, an officer observed a motorcycle parked at Fastlane in Wright City. The officer observed that the license plate affixed to the motorcycle was not on file with the Missouri Department of Revenue and there was no registration sticker affixed to the plate. The officer also observe the rider of the motorcycle standing near the vehicle with a large knife sheath on his right hip, according to the affidavit.
The officer initiated a traffic stop at the Wildcat Drive overpass, but the motorcycle failed to yield, resulting in a pursuit on eastbound I-70. The affidavit states that speeds during the pursuit reached approximately 110 mph.
The officer later determined that the license plate had once been issued to Warren D. Thronburgh III, 47, O’Fallon, according to the affidavit. The officer also obtained a photo of Thornburgh and stated that the man he observed was consisten in appearance to the man he saw. The officer later shared photos of the footage from Fastlane with officers familiar with Thornburgh and they confirmed it was the same individual.
On Oct. 10 a warrant was issued for Thornburgh’s arrest with a cash-only bond set at $20,000.
