Warren County Sheriff's deputies investigated a stolen vehicle in Marthasville in November 2022. The vehicle was found the next day, destroyed from a car accident in St. Charles County, according to the probable cause statement filed by Detective Dean Jackson.
Jackson processed the car as evidence and took a swab of blood from the deployed airbag and sent it to the Missouri State Highway Patrol lab, according to the probable cause statement.
Jackson said the lab contacted him and confirmed the substance was blood and said it was a match for Braeden Lederle, 22, of St. Clair.
In October 2024, Jackson executed a DNA search warrant on Lederle, obtaining two swabs which were a match to the samples taken from the car, according to the probable cause statement.
The probable cause statement also says Jackson interviewed Lederle at the Franklin County Jail in November 2022, where he denied ever being in the stolen vehicle.
Lederle was charged with stealing a motor vehicle, a felony, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He is to be held on a $5,000 cash bond.
