Noah Goldsmith, 53, of Poplar Bluff, has been charged with two counts of stealing more than $750, a felony, stemming from an incident that occurred in Warren County in Sept. 2022.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Detective Jeff Doerr with the Warren County Sheriff's Department, Goldsmith was a DNA match to a beer can that was found behind a business where two catalytic converters were stolen on Sept. 20, 2022.
The business owner reported in the early hours of the morning he observed a white Dodge truck pull up behind the property and watched a man exit the vehicle and enter the rear of the business.
The next day two vehicles had their catalytic converters removed and someone had attempted to remove a third. The estimated cost of the two catalytic converters was $1,000 each, according to the probable cause statement.
During an interview with Goldsmith, he told officers he was "possibly the one who took the catalytic converters," and continued saying he was known for the crime and has done so in the past.
Goldsmith also has prior convictions in Dunklin and Marion counties for receiving stolen property and burglary, respectively. Both charges are felonies.
