Matthew Martinez, 48, of Montgomery City, has been charged with burglary in the second degree, a felong, and property damage in the second degree, a misdemeanor, in connection with a burglary that took place in June of last year.
Warren County Sheriff's Deputy Justin Wade stated in the probable cause statement that on June 14, 2023, he responded to a walk-in report of a theft at the Warren County Sheriff's Department.
He investigated the residence, including a damaged safe, and was able to obtain a latent fingerprint from an exterior door of the residence, according to the probable cause statement.
On Jan. 24, 2024, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory returned a positive match of the fingerprint to Martinez.
The victim state they did not know Martinez and he did not have permission to enter the residence.
Martinez has been sent a summons to appear in court and his first hearing will take place on Nov. 12.
