Daniel McClellan, 44, of Onawa, Iowa, was charged with the fraudulent use of a credit device, a felony, in Warrenton stemming from purchases made in August 2022.
According to the probable cause statement, officers were dispatched to a location on Kuhl Avenue in Warrenton on Aug. 27, 2022 to investigate the fraudulent use of a credit card.
Officers made contact with McClellan’s employer who stated he had provided him with the company card to be used for gas and emergency purchases. The employer stated it was understood with McClellan that any other purchases required prior approval.
According to the probable cause statement, McClellan used the card 27 times between Aug. 25-27, 2022, for unapproved purchases racking up roughly $1,200 in charges.
McClellan confirmed he had used the company card and claimed to have used personal cash to make purchases for the business. According to the probable cause statement he could not produce receipts for those purchases.
While at the Warren County Jail, it was also discovered that he had two black knuckles in his possession which he confirmed he had purchased, according to the probable cause statement.
