Cade Tyron, 27, of Warrenton, was driving with Merissa Ketcham, 27, of New Florence, in the early hours of the morning on Sept. 15 on Pinkney Street in Warrenton. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol they were traveling too fast for the road conditions and traveled off the right side of the roadway.
Their 2023 Honda Pioneer, a recreational off highway vehicle, then struck the guardrail before it overturned on the side of the road.
Missouri State Trooper Thomas Benner responed to the accident and reported in a probable cause statement that Tyron's breath smelled strongly of alcohol and described his eyes as "watery, bloodshot and glassy."
Benner reported that Tyron showed signs of intoxication during a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer indicated that he was intoxicated.
Ketcham was seriously injured in the accident and Benner reported that one of her arms was severed. She was transported to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis by the Warren County Ambulance District. The crash report did not state whether or not she was wearing a seatbelt.
Tyron was charged with driving while intoxicated causing a serious injury, a felony, and is currently being held without bond.
