Wright City Police Department Sergeant Dennis Oglesby was recognized for his retirement at the May 22 Wright City Board of Aldermen meeting. Oglesby served as a police officer for over 30 years at departments across the St. Louis area and joined the Wright City Police Department in June 2023.
Mayor Michelle Heiliger thanked him for his time and efforts with the department saying he “has provided seasoned guidance, and mentorship to young officers and meaningful insight on how to best serve the Wright City Community.”
Wright City Police Chief Tom Canavan also spoke on Oglesby’s behalf at the meeting, growing emotional as he thanked the sergeant for his time with the department.
“It didn’t matter if it was early morning, late at night, a tough assignment, or the most mundane tasks, Dennis tackled each one with the same professionalism and unwavering commitment,” said Canavan. “Dennis never took recognition, yet he earned our admiration every day with his positive attitude and his willingness to help and a great work ethic.”
