The Wright City Board of Aldermen passed a resolution authorizing the police department to contract with Computer Information Systems for record keeping software at their Nov. 7 meeting.
The move had been discussed at previous meetings but was made official by the board.
According to Lieutenant Aaron Sutton the move came as the Warren County Emergency Communications Center decided to make the change to CIS earlier this year.
He said in an effort to work more smoothly with dispatchers they decided to make the switch from their current provider, Omnigo Software.
He also said the other law enforcement agencies in the county were following suit.
The switch to the new software comes with an initial cost of roughly $25,000 which includes charges for set-up. Those fees will drop to around $18,000 annually in the following years.
Sutton said that would come at a savings of $8,000 per year compared to Omnigo’s prices and potentially even more down the line.
Part of the department’s contract with Omnigo included set price increases in later years, which are not included with CIS according to Sutton.
Currently the department is starting the integration process with CIS but they will not officially make the switch until next year.
Their contract with Omnigo runs until Jan. 31, 2025 at which point they will completely switch over to CIS for record keeping services.
