A Wright City man has been arrested on felony charges of first-degree rape and sodomy, according to online court records.

The charges stem from an incident Oct. 23, when a woman attended a barbecue in Warrenton with several of her coworkers, including the foreman from her job, Yanuar Rodriguez, according to a probable cause statement. The name of the business or organization where they worked together is redacted in the statement.

After the barbecue, the woman drove Rodriguez to his apartment in the 1100 block of Parkview Drive in Wright City. “During the drive, she expressed to Rodriguez that he makes her feel uncomfortable because she felt that Rodriguez was making attempts to have a sexual relationship with her and she is a lesbian,” according to the statement.

When they arrived at Rodriguez’s apartment, he allegedly talked the woman into going inside and provided additional alcoholic beverages. The woman became heavily intoxicated and fell asleep in his bed, according to the statement, before later waking up to find Rodriguez attempting to have sex with her.

The woman attempted to push Rodriguez away and told him to stop but he continued his actions, according to the statement. Following the incident the woman was bleeding, the statement notes, and she vomited in Rodriguez’s bathroom.

Wright City police were alerted to the incident the following day by Mercy Hospital, where a sexual assault kit was performed on the victim.

Five days after the incident, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, police executed a search warrant at the apartment and found evidence of blood and vomit, according to the probable cause statement. Rodriguez, born in 1977, was taken into custody. He is being held without bond at the Warren County Jail.
