A Wright City man was charged Wednesday, Oct. 28, with felony persistent driving while intoxicated in connection with an incident in September.
A Wright City police officer was conducting a business check Sept. 21 at the Wright Stop liquor store at 100 North Elm Street when Ancelmo Esteban-Francisco allegedly pulled up and parked in two spaces, hitting the parking stops as his vehicle came to a stop.
Esteban-Francisco allegedly got out of the vehicle, stumbling, and said he’d had three beers to drink and he was sorry. He asked the officer if he could tell him something, then said he was on probation, which the officer later confirmed to be for a driving while intoxicated case, according to a probable cause statement.
Esteban-Francisco, born in 1999, eventually provided a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol content of .219 percent, according to the statement, which also notes that he thought he was in St. Louis, despite living in Wright City.
He has been ordered released on his own recognizance, although conditions include a curfew and that he not possess or consume alcohol or drugs except as prescribed by a doctor.
