The Wright City Board of Aldermen approved two bills and two resolutions Thursday evening including a bill that relates to traffic violations in construction zones.
The new city code section will establish a $250 fine for speeding violations in a construction work zone and a $35 fine for other traffic violations that occur in the zone.
Alderman Ramiz Hakim asked City Attorney Paul Rost about the fine amount in the new code section and whether that amount was arbitrary. Rost said the amount is what is allowed under Missouri statutes, but also noted that the judge in any court case would ultimately determine the fine. The bill was approved unanimously 4-0.
The board also unanimously approved an ordinance which authorizes the city to issue taxable industrial revenue bonds in an amount not to exceed $10.4 million for the purpose of providing funds to pay the costs of acquiring and constructing a facility for an industrial development project in the city.
According to the language in the ordinance, AvTask Real Estate LLC is the company who requested the bonds for the purpose of building an approximately 72,000-square-foot facility for office and warehouse use by AvTask Inc and Avion Manufacturing Inc. on approximately 10.9 acres in the city. The property is also known as lots 10 and 11 of the Gateway West Industrial Center.
The board also unanimously approved two resolutions. One for an intergovernmental reciprocity agreement for the mutual waiver of fees with the Wright City Fire Protection District, and a second a resolution amending a list of line items in the 2025 budget.
