On December 16, 2024, Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a theft at a construction site on Powerline Road, according to a probable cause statement filed by Detective Dean Jackson.
The victim said three Honda generators were stolen from the construction site totaling just over $4,000 in value and advised the generators were equipped with Apple Airtags which could be used to find their location.
Deputies found one of the generators using the Airtags that day and were informed by victim 2 he had traded his welder for the generator two days prior, according to the probable cause statement. He said he valued his welder at $500.
Victim 2 named Mark Davis, 35, of Winfield, as the suspect who traded him the generator and officers arrived at his home later that day. Officers found victim 2’s welder at the residence and obtained consent from witness 1 to search the home, according to the probable cause statement.
While searching they found another of the three generators at the residence. Officers contacted Davis by phone where he admitted that he stole the generators and traded one of them for the welder. He met with officers that day and returned the third generator.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and he is to be held on a $5,000 bond.
