A Warrenton woman has been charged after allegedly firing a pistol into an unoccupied vehicle during a domestic dispute that turned physical Sunday afternoon.
Ashley Smith, of the 400 block of Briden Court, was charged Oct. 6 with felony unlawful use of a weapon.
According to the probable cause statement, officers found a single shell casing on the ground near the vehicle, which had a shattered rear driver’s side window and bullet fragments inside. Police later located the pistol hidden under a couch cushion inside the home.
Warrenton officers responded to the residence around 1:32 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A male at the scene told officers that cuts on his arm and elbow came from breaking his car window. Smith reportedly admitted the altercation became physical and that she retrieved a pistol from her vehicle before firing at the man’s car, according to the probable cause statement.
