Courtney Franklin, 33, of Warrenton, was charged in connection to a domestic incident that was investigated by the Warren County Sheriff's Department on March 4.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Sergeant Jon Brown, officers responded to the incident on the afternoon of March 4 after Franklin had fled the scene. the victim, his girlfriend, said he had struck her several times in the back with a metal pipe while she was holding one of their children.
The pair have four children and live together, according to the probable cause statement.
She also said he grabbed her by the back of her neck and scratched her back leaving visible abrasions, according to the probable cause statement.
Brown stated she had injuries consitent with her story, including abrasions and red marks on her back from where she was struck.
Later that evening, the Warrenton Police Department reported Franklin had been seen trespassing and after searcing in the area, deputies located him in his vehicle.
According to the probable cause statement, when confronted by officers he identified himself as his brother. Officers ordered him to exit the vehicle and told him he was under arrest.
At that point, he exited the vehicle and threw a punch at one of the officers before pushing him away and running.
Officers gave chase and he surrendered in a nearby backyard where he was arrested. At that point he admitted to having an argument with the victim but denied hitting her.
He was charged with second-degree domestic assault, fourth-degree assault on a special victim and resisting arrest. All three charges are felonies.
He was ordered to be held without bond.
