Warrenton Police officers responded to a call for a domestic dispute around 6 p.m. on Oct. 25 when they encountered the suspect, Matthew Morrell, 31, of Warrenton.
According to the probable cause statement, Morrell refused to cooperate with the officers and did not listen to their instructions.
He instead repeatedly stood up and screamed obscenities, stating his intent to fight the officers, according to the probable cause statement.
Officers attempted to handcuff Morrell when he began to struggle with them, causing minor injuries to the three officers involved in the arrest. At one point, officers tased Morrell, and he attempted to take the taser from the officer.
They were eventually able to subdue Morrell and he was taken into custody.
He was charged with three counts of assault in the third degree of a special victim, for assaulting the police officers, a felony, and one count of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.
The probable cause statement also noted Morrell has been arrested three times this year and each time has been charged with resisting arrest.
