Jan Kawa, 25, of Warrenton, and an inmate at the Warren County Jail, was charged with first-degree harassment and the violation of a protection order stemming from incidents occurring in late-April.
Kawa, a foreign national illegally residing in the United States, was charged with rape in the first degree, second-degree domestic assault and first-degree harassment and a warrant was served for his arrest on April 16.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Detective Dean Jackson, Kawa attempted to contact the victim from the jail on multiple occasions in late-April, in violation of his protection order.
He attempted to make three phone calls and use the inmate canteen service to send and receive text messages from the victim, according to the probable cause statement.
“Even after an order of protection has been issued to Jan Kawa, he continues to establish communication with the victim and harass her,” wrote Jackson in the probable cause statement.
Kawa remains in custody and does not have a court date scheduled at this time.
