Warren County BackStoppers 13th annual dinner auction tickets sold out, but there are still ways to give

Tickets for this year’s Warren County BackStoppers dinner and auction have sold out, but Sheriff Kevin Harrison is maintaining a waitlist and says there are still ways to give. The 13th annual dinner and auction will take place on Feb. 15 at the St. Ignatius Community Center in Concord Hill.

“I don’t have seats available right now, but always within that final week, or two weeks, I have things that become available and then I’m calling people saying hey, are you still interested,” said Harrison.

While tickets may be hard to come by, Harrison emphasized they are still soliciting auction items as well as sponsorships and those who are interested can always donate to the BackStoppers at https://Backstoppers.org/warrencountymo/

“If somebody wanted to put together a gift basket, or they had something that they think would be of interest on the silent auction, they could contact me and we’d make arrangements to pick it up,” said Harrison.

He went on to say that some other items that have been donated in the past included power tools, vacation packages and tickets to sporting events.

Harrison was proud to say that last year’s event raised roughly $150,000. He was even more excited that their expectation is that this year they will eclipse $1 million in total donations.

“For a community of our size, that is one of the things that the BackStoppers, … is just amazed by,” said Harrison. “That a community of our size can have one event every year and that it is so well attended and successful.”

He went on to say that since Warren County joined the organization, they have consistently become “one of their largest donor entities.”

He also wanted to stress the importance of the funds from the BackStoppers and how much of a difference they can make for the families of first responders. According to Harrison there are currently three families that have received assistance after a loved one lost their life in the line of duty.

“God forbid, one of my guys, one of the fire guys, just any of the law enforcement, medical, fire, if something were to happen to them on duty, BackStoppers would come in and assist the families to get back on their feet,” said Harrison.

The funds from the BackStoppers are used to provide a “safety net” for the family members of first responders which Harrison said can help lend some peace of mind to those workers when they are on duty.

“Even if you don’t currently have a family that is receiving benefits, what this organization does is it’s that safety net that the counties they cover, if anything were to happen, the guys can at least have some security knowing that their families will be taken care of,” said Harrison.

Those interested in making donations and providing auction items, sponsoring the event or placing their name on the waitlist for tickets can also reach Harrison at 636-544-2777.
