Four Truesdale officials received commendations from the Missouri Municipal league that were presented to them at the Sept. 25 board of aldermen meeting. While Mayor Jerry Cannon and City Administrator Elsa Smith-Fernandez actually received their plaques commemorating their work at the MML conference in Branson earlier in the month, while the other two, Aldermen Justin Naranjo and Kari Hartley received theirs at the meeting.
The plaques recognize them as Certified Municipal Officials completed coursework related to council meeting procedures, parliamentary procedures, Missouri’s Sunshine Law, conflicts of interest and other topics, according to Cannon.
In a press release on the commendation, MML Executive Director Richard Sheets also recognized the work required to achieve the certification.
“All MGI graduates spend many hours over several years attending workshops and lectures on the finer points of municipal government,” said Sheets. “Earning the CMO designation is a significant achievement and I commend our graduates for their dedication and motivation to become better informed and more effective municipal officials.”
