The Truesdale Board of Aldermen recognized several Good Neighbor award winners during their regularly scheduled meeting last Wednesday, Oct. 8.
Mayor Jerry Cannon presented the awards to the winners Wednesday. The first winner was Freedom Pipeworks LLC who generously donated money to the city’s Fill the Bus event, according to Cannon. The next winner was another person who donated new coats and other items, Tammy Markham. Cannon said the next winner was someone who donated a huge amount of Kleenex and boxes of items to the Fill the Bus event, Kelly Riehl. Cannon then honored Lewis Family Garage. He said they were being honored because they recently helped an elderly person who was suffering with memory loss, who came to their shop looking for a car repair. Cannon said they got the gentleman the help he needed and made sure he got home safely.
The last two winners were helping their elderly neighbor, a veteran, who has been struggling with memory loss and keeping his electricity on.
“They went way above the call of a neighbor,” Cannon said of Alfred and Gale Wheeler.
During Wednesday’s meeting the board also approved up to $1,500 for city hall landscaping. They also approved a new computer for Truesdale Police Chief Casey Doyle in the amount of $800.
Public Works Administrator Steve Harlan said that the city’s well inspections were done before the last board meeting, but he just received the information three days prior to the meeting. He said everything looked good on the wells this time.
