Strassenbash, Wright City’s annual community festival, is seeking competitor registrations for a cornhole tournament and chili cookoff that are happening during the festival on Oct. 9 at Diekroeger Park.

The cornhole tournament begins at noon and is limited to 32 teams. There will be a cash payout for the top four teams in two divisions. Registration fees are $40 per team for Division A and $30 per team for Division B. Teams pay their fees when they sign in at noon.

To secure a team spot in the tournament, text the players’ first names and team name to 636-399-6516. Sign ups will also be accepted on the day of the tournament, but only if slots are open.

The tournament is being organized by Cottleville Cornhole.

Chefs who think they can bring the heat are invited to register for a judged chili cookoff that runs from 3-7 p.m. at Strassenbash. Participants are invited to decorate themselves and their tables with an ’80s theme.

Cookoff teams will bring their recipe and ingredients to make their chili on-site. Festival visitors will be able to sample the chili contenders and vote for their favorite. Awards will be announced for first, second and third place, as well as for best decorated table.

Cookoff registration is $10 per team. The deadline to register is Oct. 1. To receive a registration form or for questions, call 636-745-2923.

The chili cookoff is sponsored by Main Street Real Estate.
