Mrs. Shirley Anne Rose (nee: DeClue) of New Florence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20. The daughter of William P. and Mary A. (nee: Sansocie) DeClue, she was born on May 1, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Shirley was united in marriage to Richard Joseph Rose on September 29, 1962, at Immaculate Conception Church in Maplewood. They were blessed in 62 years of marriage with three children, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Their love and enduring commitment have always set an example for their family and entire community.
Shirley was known for her faith, family and fun. She always took care of the people around her, opening her door and heart to anyone in need. She founded ShirleyClubUSA, befriending over 400 Shirley's worldwide and having fun whenever the Shirley's got together. Her faith-based optimism was reflected in her love of Christmas, and her dedication to St. Patrick Catholic Church, community organizations like BirthRight of Montgomery City, and anyone in need. Though she moved all over the world, Shirley was forever dedicated to her family, regardless of time or distance.
Preceding Shirley in death are her parents, William P. and Mary A. (nee: Sansocie) DeClue, and her sister Dorothy DeClue. Surviving family members include her husband, Richard Rose, and three children, James Rose and wife Melissa, Theresa Ingram and husband Sam, and Patrick Rose and wife Kristy. Eight grandchildren: Matthew (Elise), Miranda, Joshua, Emma (Paul), Timothy (Makenzie), Jerod, Luke (Breanna), and Bridget. Four great grandchildren: Cameron, Levi, Vann, and Mack. And her brother William DeClue and wife Joye, plus nieces, nephews, other relatives, as well as Jack Thompson, and many friends and neighbors.
A visitation for Shirley Rose will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton. A Catholic Mass officiated by Father Ernest Dike will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Jonesburg. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to BirthRight of Montgomery City, c/o Martin Funeral Home.
