Richard Harrel Janes, 76, passed away at his home on December 26, 2023, after an extended illness. He was born September 6, 1947, in St. Louis, MO. Richard was the only child of Harrel B. Janes and Ada M. (Hollis) Janes.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He married Patricia Laramie in St. Louis on September 1, 1973. They lived in Montgomery County since 1981. Richard received his BS degree at Southern Illinois University and his Masters at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. He worked at the Warren County Extension office for the University of Missouri as a farm management specialist, a job he loved, for 28 years. He retired due to health concerns. He was a member of the Montgomery City Christian Church for 40 years.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Pat, he is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Drysdale and husband Doug of Bridgeton; One son, Stephen Janes and wife Lindsey (Dixon) of New Florence; four grandchildren; Taylor and Aubrey Janes, and Kason and Kinsley Drysdale, and two brother-in-law’s, Terry and Ron Laramie – of St. Louis. Along with many other extended family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or the Montgomery City Christian Church and may be sent in care of Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO 63361.
