A Pevely woman was charged with forgery, stealing of $750 or more, money laundering or attempted money laundering, possession and possession of a forging instrument in Wright City on April 15. All charges are felonies.
On April 28, 2024, police officers were dispatched in Warren County for reported fraud and a witness told officers on the scene Marney Summers, 55, of Pevely, had cashed a fraudulent gaming machine voucher in the amount of $1,200, according to the probable cause statement filed by Detective James Holmes.
The witness also stated a separate suspect had attempted to cash a separate fraudulent voucher for $2,100 just prior to Summers’ arrival.
Officers arrested the second suspect and impounded his vehicle.
Holmes stated he made contact with detectives in Wentzville and St. Charles, who advised Summers and the other suspect, had attempted to cash fraudulent vouchers at other locations in those municipalities as well. The vehicle that was impounded matched a description of the one used by the pair, according to the probable cause statement.
On April 29, Holmes executed a search warrant on the vehicle and seized a laptop, an inkjet printer and other equipment used to operate the laptop and printer inside the vehicle. He also seized copies of the fraudulent $1,200 voucher from the vehicle and additional copies used at locations in Wentzville and St. Charles.
Summers was also charged with forgery, stealing and money laundering or attempted money laundering in Warrenton.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Detective James Plackemeier, Summers cashed a fraudulent voucher at a bar in Warrenton on April 27, 2024 for $491.
Plackemeier also reported Summers was previously convicted of similar incidents twice in the last 10 years, and was implicated in 14 other stealing incidents that were either dismissed or actively going through court proceedings since Jan. 2019.
Warrants have been issued for her arrest and she is to be held without bond.
