Jeff and Jennifer Schneider and family of Warrenton were among the families honored during the 67th annual Missouri Farm Family Day, Aug. 12, at the Missouri State Fair.
The Schneider family was selected as the Warren County Missouri Farm Family by the University of Missouri Extension office in Warren County and the local Farm Bureau. The family includes Jeff, Jennifer, Bailey, Ava and Brady Schneider.
Each year, the fair sets aside a day to recognize farm families from across the state that are active in their communities, involved in agriculture, and/or participate in local outreach and extension programs such as 4-H or FFA.
Jeff and Jennifer own and operate Rock Branch Farm along with the help of Bailey, Ava and Brady. Currently they manage a small row crop operation with hopes to expand. As a family they also raise and sell show pigs that the kids exhibit on the county and state level for 4-H and FFA. In recent years they have raised sweet corn that the kids sell locally. They also market their USDA inspected, locally raised pork.
With the Schneiders’ farming background and passion for agriculture they are always looking for ways to utilize their acreage and resources. They are grateful for the opportunities that the farm gives to their children to develop a good work ethic and learn the importance of advocating for the ag industry. The Schneider family enjoys getting involved with local organizations that support their interests and values. They are members of Warren County Cattlemen’s Association, The Warren County Farm Bureau, 4-H, FFA Alumni, The Warren County Fair Livestock Committee and Holy Rosary Church. They are also School Board Members for the Warren County R-III School District and Holy Rosary.
The annual event is sponsored by five partner agencies, the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Misosuri State Fair Commissioners, the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the MU Extension.
The event showcases the impact that Missouri farm families have on the economy and heritage of the state, said Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe.
“These families are involved in agriculture activities in their communities and are active participants in local outreach and extension. As the premier showcase for Missouri agriculture, the Missouri State Fair is most certainly the appropriate place to celebrate these families.”
