36 Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports members competed at the highest level at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships June 23-28 in Grand Island, Nebraska.
The event boasted a large number of participants from across the nation including 708 athletes on 172 teams from 40 states competing in nine disciplines.
The nine dicipline areas include compound archery, recurve archery, air rifle, air pistol, small bore (.22) rifle, pistol, shotgun, muzzleloadings and hunting and outdoor skills. This is National 4-H Shhoting Sports' premier event for youths.
Each state can sned up to nine teams to compete, with a maximum of 36 youth representing each state.
Missouri counties represented include Boone, Clay, Cedar, Christian, Clinton, Cole, Cooper, Crawford, Gasconade, Laclede, Lafayette, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Miller, Pike, Ralls, Randolph, Texas and Warren Counties.
Four of nine Missouri teams placed in the top five overall. Nine Missouri competitors placed as top 10 overall individuals.
2024 Team Placements
First Place, Muzzleloading: Ben Hall (third place individual), Kendall Link (fifth place individual), Daniel DeWitt (eighth place individual) and Ashley miller with Coach Rusty Howard.
First Place, Small Bore Pistol: Qwentin Kallenbach (first place individual), Konnor Hoerrmann (ninth place individual), Caleb Farris and Kody Cokerham with Coach Chesly Manning.
Second Place, Recurve Archery: Delany Stokes (third place individual), Warner Wright, Rory Wigginton and Ryan Wells with Coach Terry Allen.
First Place, Hunting and Outdoor Skills: Bubba Say (first place individual), Carter Taylor (second place individual), Mackenzie Moyer (fifth place individual), and Chloe Beal with Coach Jim Sappington.
Air Pistol: Isabella Newman, Emily Haider, Sarah Wright and Zoe Beal with Coach John Bowles.
Small Bore Rifle: Jack Lawrence, Gracie Robinson, Bryan Buechter and Lane Flowers with Coach Mike Breshears.
Shotgun: Blake Wigginton, Kaleb Ingram, Jared Tavenner and Cylas Black with Coach Gabe Butteris.
Air Rifle: Lillian Raaf, Ayden Shortridge, Boaz Grimstead and Sophia Sandbothe with Coach Brad Howard.
Compound Archery: Christina Zimmer, Jeff Newton, Grace Day and Hannah Timlinson with Coach Aaron Wosoba.
