An apartment manager in Warrenton has been charged for allegedly stealing more than $45,000 in rent payments over the course of three years.
Levi C. Roberts, 37, of Wright City, was arrested Feb. 18 on a felony stealing charge. In a court filing, the Warrenton Police Department said it began an investigation of Roberts in February 2020.
Roberts was the manager of the Cordova Court Apartments in Warrenton from June 2011 to January 2020, police said. Investigators allege that starting in 2017, Roberts tricked tenants into making payments that he could deposit into his personal bank account.
Tenants reportedly told police that Roberts had instructed them to make their rent payments through money orders with the “pay to” line left blank. Investigators acquired Roberts’ personal bank records and allegedly found numerous money orders for rent payments, with Roberts’ name added to them.
Roberts was released from jail on his own recognizance after being booked on Feb. 18. He has a court hearing scheduled for April 14 in Warren County Circuit Court.
