A Montgomery City man was charged this week stemming from a February arrest where he was found in possession of an illegal weapon and suspected methamphetamine. He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor charges for unlawful possession of an illegal weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Warrenton Police Department, Jeremy Doyle, 48, Montgomery City, was located parked in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Warrenton Walmart on Feb. 24.
When officers made contact with Doyle they observed brass knuckles within the vehicle. The affidavit said officers had reasonable suspicion to believe drugs may be in the vehicle, but Doyle refused to consent to search the vehicle. A drug K9 conducted a sniff-test of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive hit for the presence of drugs.
A search was conducted on the vehicle and a clear jar with white residue and a clear jar with clear-yellow liquid, consistent with methamphetamine was found. Officers discovered a plastic bag with white residue consistent with methamphetamine in the vehicle, according to the affidavit. Officers also located a blood-stained medical wrap tourniquet and several unused needles in a lockbox, which contained a used needle. Preliminary and lab confirmed for the presence of methamphetamine.
