Lyle William Laughman

Lyle William Laughman, 80, of Warren County, passed away on April 4, of natural causes. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lyle was born on July 2, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Basil and Vivian (Martin) Laughman. He graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in 1966, followed by a Master of Science in Education in 1974 and a Specialist in Education in 1978.

Lyle honorably served in the United States Air Force. He went on to dedicate his life to education, serving for 30 years in various roles including math teacher, principal, and superintendent of school at several districts including Excelsior Springs, Lexington, Wellington-Napoleon, Stet, and Meadow Heights. He retired after 19 years as Superintendent of Schools at Lincoln County R-IV, leaving a lasting legacy of leadership and commitment to students and staff.

On April 2, 1966, Lyle married the love of his life. Sharon A. (Cox) Laughman. He is survived by Sharon and their three sons: Christopher (Tammy), Roderick (Collene), and Konrad (Rebecca). He is also survived by six grandchildren: Abigail, Mackenzie, Amanda (Brendan) Strauser, Jenna, Grant, and Gabriella; one great-granddaughter, Cassidy Strauser. Additional survivors include his sister-in-law, Linda (Kent) Rogge, brother-in-law, J.A. Harclerode, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pat Harclerode.

Lyle had a lifelong passion for woodworking, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed traveling. Above all, he cherished time with his family. Known for his generosity, warmth, and integrity, he was deeply involved in his church, active in his community, and a proud member of the Missouri State Retired Teachers Association.

A visitation will be held on April 9, from 11 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. at College United Methodist Church, in Warrenton. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 12:30 P.M., officiated by Pastor Doug Kraus. Interment will take place at Mineral Creek Cemetery in Leeton, MO at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to College United Methodist Church or The American Kidney Fund in care of Pitman Funeral Home.
