Linda Jean Smith (nee: Goewert) of Foristell, passed away on Friday March 20, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on November 18, 1947 in St. Louis, to the late Ralph and Lauretta (nee: Carter) Goewert. Linda had reached the age of 78.
Linda wore many hats throughout her life - wife, daughter, mom, grandma, granny, sister, friend, aunt, bus driver, business owner, domestic goddess, and nail technician, just to name a few. She lived her life fully and authentically. With Linda at the helm, many of life’s problems were worked out over a cup of coffee at the kitchen table. It was a sacred place where anything could be discussed, and what was said there stayed there. No topic was ever off limits. Linda found joy in the simple things - working on puzzles, shopping, and keeping her nails just right. She had a deep love for her animals, treating them as part of the family. She was always ready for an adventure and loved to travel, whether it was to the beach or the mountains. For many years, she and John traveled together in their RV, making memories along the way. She also cherished her time in retirement in Yuma, AZ, before eventually returning home to be closer to her family. Her daughters were not only her children, but her best friends, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness. She took great joy in watching her great-grandchildren play and found special pride in seeing her grandchildren become parents themselves. Though she did not have sons of her own, she held a special place in her heart for her sons-in-law, loving them as her own and cherishing the important role they played in her family. Above all else, Linda’s greatest love was her husband, John. Together, they shared over 58 glorious years, standing by each other through every season of life. She was forever his bride and his “sweetie” - a true love story that will live on in all who knew them. Linda’s legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
