Following a first-round setback, the Liberty Christian girls rebounded by ending the Warrenton Winter Shootout with two wins to claim the consolation championship.
The Eagles pounded Liberty 66-38 in the final game Friday night as Sophi Mueller led four players in double figures with 15 points. The Eagles jumped ahead 14-7 in the opening quarter and extended their lead by outsourcing the Eagles 44-19 in the middle two quarters.
Andrea Mueller and Alli Meyer each had 13 points and Adison Roden chipped in with 11 points.
In last Wednesday’s loser’s bracket contest, Roden scored 23 points in a 63-47 victory over St. Louis Christian. Sophi Mueller added 20 points Andrea Mueller followed with 11.
Liberty Christian opened this week with a 51-29 win over Wellsville-Middletown on Monday. The Eagles held the Tigers to single digits in each of the first three quarters and extended a 10-point halftime lead to 23 heading into the fourth quarter.
Andrea Mueller had a team-best 13 points and Sophi Mueller and Adison Roden followed with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Cole Christian and Josh Dames combined for 45 points to lift Liberty Christian to a thrilling 54-50 triumph over St. Louis Christian last Thursday.
Christian had a team-best 24 points and Dames followed with 21 as the Eagles (10-5) stormed back from a 30-21 halftime deficit. They completed the rally with a 25-11 third-quarter run and hung on down the stretch.
