Warrenton boys place first in four events, second in team standings
The Warrenton boys track team put together a strong performance with a second-place finish at Friday’s Crusader Invitational, aided by winning four events.
Senior Wyatt Claiborne led the way by winning the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 3.26 seconds and the 1,600-meter run in 4:35.52. Freshman Jake Kinney won the javelin with a throw of 43.38 meters and freshman Marcus Greene took first in the shot put (13.44 meters). The 4x100 meter relay comprised of Kadin Stroer, Deadrick Forrest, Garrison Allen and Chance McPike also won first in 45.50 seconds.
McPike, another freshman, had two top three finishes by placing second in the 100 (11.35) and second in the 400 (51.61).
Allen added a second-place finish in the discus and was third in the long jump
In the team standings, Warrenton was second with 121 points. St. Charles won the team title with 180 points.
On the girls side, the Warriors finished fifth with 75 points. St. Dominic won the team title with 141.50 points.
Avery Shaw placed first in the shot put, while placing second in the discus and javelin.
The 4x100 relay team of Kylie Overkamp, Kiera Daniel, Isabelle Morris and Evangeline Rhama placed third in 54.02 seconds.
Rhama also placed second in the long jump and third in the 100, while Paige Sommer added a third-place medal in the 300 hurdles.
Wright City's Clubb places first in two events
Wright City junior Lydia Clubb won two individual events and was part of a third first-place finish at the Crusader Invitational held Friday, April 5, at St. Dominic High School.
Clubb won the 100-meter dash in 12.82 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 26.71.
She was also part of the foursome who took first in the 4x200 relay in 1:53. Others who were part of the relay were Adalyn Ferrell, Elizabeth Riggs and Teagen Riley.
Riggs also had a strong individual meet. She placed second in the 400-meter in 1:02.16 and in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.29.
Other Wildcats who placed in the top three were Kaedyn Johnson (second, pole vault) and Emma Staats (third, javelin).
In the team standings, the Wright City girls finished fourth out of 12 schools with 81 points. St. Dominic won the team title with 141.50 points, ahead of Winfield (104.50) and Blue Knights (87).
On the boys side, the Wildcats placed 10th with 20 points. Quinn Schnarre placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the discus and shot put.
The 4x200 relay consisting of Kayden Allison, Kaden Cross, Terrance Love and Dayton Humphreys also had a strong showing with a fourth-place finish.
