Larry E. Haller passed into glory, Thursday, June 12th at the age of 79.  He was born February 23rd, 1946, in the town of Gilmore, Missouri, a little town north of Lake St. Louis to Dorothy and Lloyd Haller.  He was one of five children, brothers Charles Conrad Haller (deceased), Dale, Terry and sister Marianne (Haller) Marler.

Larry was a beloved husband of 53-years to Marlene (Reitz) Haller, who passed away in 2021, and loving father of Joanne (Haller) Luetkemeyer and Larry Haller II.  Sharing that love, he was a caring stepfather to Dawn Tillinger (deceased), Scott Tillinger and Roy Tillinger.  Larry celebrated life with 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren with one on the way.

Larry Haller served our Country as an Army soldier from 1967 to 1973, mastering in sharpshooting and mechanics.  He received the National Defense Service medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary medal.  After his honorable discharge, Larry moved to Warrenton Missouri and lived there for 24-years.  Some of Larry’s accomplishments were owning an auto repair shop, being elected Warrenton Fire Chief in 1983, and serving as an auxiliary Warren County deputy.

Larry loved to hunt and fish.  That love for fishing took him to Jacksonville Florida in 1995.  His colorful sense of humor (always ready to tell a joke) had people drawn to him; making friends at work and at church, Larry was beloved by so many. Larry made the decision to move back to Missouri, in December 2024.  He was cared for by his daughter Joanne.

A Celebration of Life/Memorial service will be held at the VFW post, in Warrenton, Sunday, July 27th, at 1 pm for all to attend. Larry Haller’s full military honors and service will be held at the Jacksonville Florida “National Cemetery” in November, where his ashes will be placed next to his wife, Marlene. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that you consider donating to Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers.
