James  Russell Hurt

James R. Hurt of Warrenton passed away on January 18, at the age of 78.  Jim was born October 20, 1946 in Warren County, to the late John and Joan Hurt nee Glastetter.
 
Jim was united in marriage to Sherry Roeper on April 30, 1977 and they celebrated 47 wonderful years together.  To this union they were blessed with two children, Jody and John.  Jim served his country in the United States Army from 1966-1968. Jim was employed for Casens Transport as a Teamster Car Hauler and after 38 years retired. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his kids and grandkids play sports, riding his Harley and turkey hunting. Jim was a great storyteller, wonderful husband, dad and grandpa and he will be greatly missed by all.
 
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Sherry Hurt nee Roeper; daughter, Jody (Juan) Arechederra of Troy; son, John Hurt of Warrenton; sister, Jenny (Bob) Lime of St. Peters; three grandsons, Jacob (Tina) Hurt, currently serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, Juan  Arechederra, Jr., Jason  Arechederra; brother-in-law, Don Bocklage;  several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
 
 He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joe (Shirley) Hurt, sister, Judith Bocklage and nieces, Christina Hurt and Jill Bocklage. 
 
The visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home in Warrenton. The funeral will be Friday, January 24, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Warrenton. Military Honors to follow funeral mass. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, MO at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Leukemia Foundation  or American Cancer Society in care of Pitman Funeral Home.
