James "Jaime" Hassell Chailland III

James Hassell Chailland III, affectionately known as Jaime, passed away on December 29, in Rogers, Arkansas. Born on November 9, 1961, Jaime most recently resided in Marthasville. His life was defined by purpose, compassion and service, leaving an enduring legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Jaime is survived by his devoted husband, S. Marshall McClure; his mother, Connie Jo Chailland; his brother Tony Chailland and wife Michelle, along with their family; and his sister-in-law Melody Manker and husband Bob, together with their family. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.

A proud alumnus of the University of Missouri (Mizzou) School of Journalism, Jaime also earned an MBA and remained an active member of the university community throughout his life. During his time at Mizzou, he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and was honored as Homecoming King. Among his many contributions to the university, Jaime spearheaded the creation of Mizzou’s annual blood drive—a tradition that continues today as the nation's longest-running blood drive.

Jaime’s dedication to service extended far beyond the university. He played a pivotal role in launching the Best Buddies Missouri Jobs Program, which provides meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. His efforts in this program reflected his lifelong commitment to creating opportunities for others and making a positive impact on his community.

Known for his entrepreneurial spirit and deep empathy, Jaime had a rare gift for making people feel valued and appreciated. His unwavering commitment to helping others and striving for excellence defined his character and inspired everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jaime’s legacy is one of love, determination, and service—a life well-lived that touched countless hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Best Buddies' Missouri (bestbuddies.org/missouri/donate) in honor of Jaime’s enduring commitment to creating opportunities for others.

A service will be held at Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville, on Saturday, January 4. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a eulogy at 1:30 p.m.
