According to the Warren County Emergency Management Agency, any runoff from the fire at Universal Galvanizing still appears to have been contained and continuing air monitoring has shown no dangers to the public.
The Facebook post went on to say a plan for first responders to leave the area is in the works and they expect to begin releasing units in the next 15 minutes.
They still ask that any civilians continue to avoid the area.
Around 2 p.m. this afternoon, The Wright City Fire Protection District responded to an explosion at Universal Galvanizing in the Wright City industrial park.
According to the Warren County EMA the fire is under control and an initial half-mile evacuation zone was declared that included no residential properties. They continued in a Facebook post saying runoff has been contained and air monitoring did not detect any issues.
The EMA said there is no current or imminent danger to the public but emergency personnel are asking that people avoid the area of the fire to allow crews to continue to work.
According to the post, specialized hazardous material response units were called through the St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties Regional Hazardous Materials Team.
All Universal Galvanizing employees were accounted for and there were no injuries reported.
