Mr. Darrell William Potthast, of Warrenton, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, at his home. He was born on October 2, 1945, in Washington, to the late Benjamin and Ida (nee: Kersten) Potthast. Darrell had reached the age of 80 years.
Darrell was united in marriage to Helen Elaine Dorrell on September 5, 1965 in Warrenton. They spent 60 wonderful years together. They were blessed with two boys, Jeff and Mark. Darrell began his career in the printing industry. That career led him to photography, which started as a hobby and grew into him being a business owner. He and Helen owned Quality Photo in Warrenton for several years. Darrell enjoyed being outside, working on his property and cutting the grass. He was also a member of Frieden's United Church of Christ. Darrell was a family man and loved spending his time with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ida. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; his children, Jeff Potthast and wife Christy, Mark Potthast and wife Laura; four grandchildren, Kevin Potthast, Clara Potthast, William Potthast and Connor Potthast; other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29, at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton, from 10 A.M. - 12 P.M. A funeral ceremony will begin at 12 P.M, also at the funeral home. A committal service will immediately follow at the Warrenton City Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to be given to Frieden's UCC, c/o Martin Funeral Home.
