Jemar Driver, 49, of Bridgeton, was charged with third-degree domestic assault, a felony, stemming from an incident that occurred on May 30 of this year in Warren County.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Warren County Sheriff's Department Deputy Brian Bowker, he was dispatched to an address in Warren County for a well-being check on the victim on May 31.
She said she and Driver had stopped to get food in Warrenton when Driver became agitated and verbally abusive, according to the probable cause statement. They then traveled to his cousin's residence on Cox Road in Warren County, according to the probable cause statement.
She alleged that Driver, her ex-boyfriend, had assaulted her there.
When they were leaving, the victim said Driver began to strike her head, feet, legs and knees with his fists. She said she left, at which point, Driver came to get her, brought her back to Cox Road, and assaulted her again.
Bowker reported she had a bump on her head, and bruising on her arms and legs.
Driver has a litany of prior convictions including a previous domestic assault charge, possession of a controlled substance and several charges of forgery and passing bad checks, all felonies.
