The Missouri State Highway Patrol Career Recruitment Division will host a newly created Youth Academy Program June 12-16 at Sunnyhill Adventures in Dittmer.The five-day, residential course is for youth ages 16-18 who are considering a career in law enforcement.Thirty area youth have been selected to attend the 2017 program which will provide a unique, hands-on experience to show participants the role of law enforcement within the community.Cadets will experience a variety of presentations illustrating the different careers within the criminal justice field including patrol officer, crash investigation, SWAT, marine operations, first aid and criminal investigations.The program is designed to create an environment that fosters teamwork, instills discipline and emphasizes character building.Volunteers for the Youth Academy Program are all members or civilian employees of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.Camp staff will participate alongside the youth participants in physical fitness, practical exercises and team-building activities, as well as share meals throughout the week.Missouri State Highway Patrol
