To improve student safety and streamline daily transportation updates, the Wright City R-II School District is introducing a new mobile app that lets parents and guardians monitor bus locations and schedule changes in real time.
In partnership with the district’s bus partner, First Student, the new FirstView app is now live.
District Superintendent Dr. Amy Salvo said the app will help families track their students during the daily journey to and from school.
“We are excited that our transportation vendor, First Student, is now offering the FirstView app to our families,” Salvo said. “We recognize how important safe, reliable and consistent transportation is, and this additional tool will provide families with greater visibility into their child's bus transportation. We appreciate First Student's continued efforts to improve communication and the overall transportation experience for our families.”
Through FirstView, parents and guardians will be able to see real-time vehicle location via GPS and track its progress; easily access vehicle details and updates regarding any changes; receive distance notifications and automated arrival alerts when the vehicle is close; set up family members and caregivers to receive trip email alerts and connect with a dedicated support team for all app-related needs.
The district has more than 200 parents who are set up as users.
First Student Location Manager Johnny Llamas said that the app is extremely easy for students’ families to use.
“FirstView provides parents and caregivers with real-time vehicle location information, customized notifications and transportation updates through an easy-to-use mobile app,” Llamas said. “By improving visibility and communication, First View helps families stay informed and connected to their student's transportation experience.”
To get started with FirstView, family members should download the free mobile app, available on iOS and Android. Search for the app name ‘First View’ or visit myfirstview.com and create an account.
Devices must meet the minimum operating system requirements and not all are compatible. Make sure to allow notifications and enable location-based services for notification set-up.
Communication was sent to parents on Oct. 16 to help them set the app up for their students, and they are able to reference our website for the needed information day or night: https://www.wrightcity.k12.mo.us/our-district/transportation/first-view-bus-tracker
